Samuel Chang personally has a love for skateboarding, and he is excited to share that love and passion. He believes that skateboarding is a healthy and fun activity that every kid should learn, and it promotes mental and emotional health as well as an escape from school and home.
For safety, he will enforce students to wear safety gear, and he will also tell students the importance of not learning a trick beyond their ability and the importance of being very good at basics. He will also teach in an environment that is suitable for skateboarding, whether it is a patch of smooth concrete or an actual skatepark.
For teaching method, he believes that before a student learns new tricks, the student needs to be very comfortable riding on he board. He also believes in the power of muscle memory, emotional sobriety and not getting frustrated when failing over and over again, and the importance of going to the skatepark, everyday if possible. For versatility, he can teach the basics of every category, whether it is transition, all four stances, boxes, rails, flatground, and stairs, and he also believes that each category supplements each other. For example, being good at flatground will help you in transition which will also help you in grinds.
As a skater, Samuel Chang strives to be the best he can be personally, and he tries to learn a new trick everyday, as well as push his limits. He is comfortable in transition, knows the basics in grinds and slides, and his strength is flatground.
Samuel Chang will always encourage the student, since skateboarding is such a difficult activity. He will make sure the student leaves the skateboard lesson as a better skater, as well as one that finds skateboarding even more fun.
