The Story

GoSkate.com started as an skating rink directory in 1996.

That Changed When the Site Was Bought by a Skater

“Eat. Breath, Sleep. Skateboard.”

Eat. Breath, Sleep. Skateboard. This was the life story of the Go Skate founder. In 2006, he decided to do something about it. The CEO decided placed a cold call to the owner of the ice skating directory and asked to purchase it for $500 to use develop a database for skateboard spots. GoSkate.com would soon become a collection of skate spots throughout the USA using photos the owner had collected on skate trips. $10,000 and many hours were spent developing this interactive skateboard site. The problem is— no one came to Go Skate.

Acknowledging Go Skate’s failure, the CEO, decided it was time to use the site to offer lessons. The lessons began as a side job to a sales job in San Diego, California. A small local operation began to receive requests throughout the nation. Students from San Francisco, Chicago, and Washington DC were asking the website to be connected to instructors.

The site became flooded with requests to give lessons. Soon we developed a nationwide advertising and certification campaign gathering instructors to provide lessons. By 2010, we had 300 instructors and today, there are over 5,100 certified Go Skate Pros.

With the experience of personally teaching over 1,000 skaters, Rob is the mastermind behind Go Skate and the development of it’s programs. With a surging instructional YouTube channel with over 1,000,000 views, Rob’s teaching skills have gathered nationwide attention. Rob developed, Trick Tutor, one of the best-selling skate instructional products of all time, and has been skateboarding for over 16 years.


Steve S., Director of Sales

Steve is a skateboarding guru who used to own and manage one of the largest chains skateboarding stores in Upstate New York. His stores became one of the hottest shops in the nation. He has over 30 years of experience in skateboarding and selling skate products. He enjoys skateboarding, surfing, longboarding, and spending time with his dogs.

Robert G., Director of Staffing

Robert was a manager of customer service at Hotels.com for five years. He is an avid skateboarder and has skateboarded for nearly 30 years. Robert has a passion for helping people and one of the nicest customer service reps you will meet! Robert also enjoys spending time with his son, daughter, and wife.
