For Richard being a good skate instructor would mean teaching him or her how to skate from the ground up. Starting with the basics such as stance, (regular/goofy), foot placement, (how they push), with their front or with their back foot. Teach them how to turn their board and how to slow down/speed up and also slowing move towards more advanced skating. You can learn FUN while having safety first.
