Pinole (formerly also spelled Penole) is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 18,390 at the 2010 census. It is one of many small “bedroom communities” along the I-80 corridor in Western Contra Costa County. It is located about 20 miles (30 km) northeast of San Francisco, and approximately a half-hour drive (without traffic) from San Francisco. Neighboring towns are Richmond and San Pablo to the southwest, and Hercules to the northeast. The unincorporated area of El Sobrante lies to the south.
The name derives from “pinole”, a Native American word for a kind of flour made from the seeds of maize, chia, and various other grasses and annual herbs. An expedition under Pedro Fages was said to have run out of provisions while exploring the area, and been fed pinole by a local village, and so the Spaniards named their camp “El Pinole”.

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Find out all of the fundamentals of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will teach you the basics of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. In spite, of where you are at.. you can benefit from individualized instruction to meet your current skill level.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a board in the previous year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the ensuing years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation sport or art for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

 

 

How to Start:

 

 

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Pinole skate park.
