The skatepark in downtown Denver offers an impressive array of features, including concrete, transitions, rails, and coping. Known for its accessibility being located in Downtown Denver, it is celebrated for being one of the best concrete skateparks, attracting both praise and critique. The Architerra Group designed the park, and Hallmark, Inc. undertook the construction, completing it in July 2003, following a start in March of the same year.
This expansive skatepark is free to use and caters to skateboarders of all skill levels. The south side of the park features a street course, while the entire north side offers bowls ranging from micro to a 7/10 foot kidney, providing a variety of options for skaters. Phase 2, recently opened to the east, offers huge banked hips surrounded by ledges and rails, creating a skateboarder's paradise.
The facility, open from 5 AM to 11 PM every day of the week, provides a unique experience with its late hours and skyline views, drawing skateboarders of all ages and skill levels. Onsite amenities include a bathroom, water fountain, and a pavilion with a pay phone. Additionally, cart vendors occasionally offer drinks and snacks, enhancing the overall experience.
Skatepark rules emphasize safety, urging users to be aware of their abilities and skate at their own risk. The use of proper safety equipment, such as helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist pads, gloves, and appropriate shoes, is strongly recommended. The combination of well-designed features, accessibility, and a vibrant skateboarding community makes this downtown Denver skatepark a popular and cherished destination for enthusiasts.
