MY NAME IS JONATHAN “SHREDDIE MERCURY” MARINO AND I’VE BEEN SKATING FOR OVER 20 YEARS. I LOVE ALL STYLES OF SKATEBOARDING AND HAVE COMPETED IN BOWL AND SLALOM CONTESTS. MY JOURNEY INTO TEACHING SKATEBOARDING STARTED WHEN I MOVED FROM MARYLAND TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND WORKED AT THE WORLD FAMOUS VANS SKATEPARK IN 2007. I ALSO GOT TO WORK WITH STAR EDUCATION AND WAS A VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTOR WITH THE A. SKATE FOUNDATION (Autism. Skating with Kids through Acceptance, Therapy, and Education). I LEARNED HOW TO SKATE WHEN I WAS 12 YEARS OLD AND HAVE LOVED IT EVER SINCE. TO ME SKATEBOARDING IS MORE THAN A HOBBY OR SPORT, IT’S A CREATIVE OUTLET AND A GENUINE ART FORM. OVER THE YEARS I’VE MADE SOME AMAZING FRIENDS OF ALL AGES AND GENDERS, SOME OF WHICH ARE PROFESSIONAL SKATERS THAT HAVE BECOME MENTORS TO ME. MY MAIN PASSION IN LIFE IS TO SHARE THE STOKE AND TO TEACH OTHERS HOW SKATEBOARDING CAN SHAPE YOUR LIFE IN A VERY POSITIVE WAY.

LET’S DO THIS!

Spencer is a fun, encouraging, and experienced skater from Salt Lake City, Utah. He’s been skateboarding consistently for over ten years and it has had a great impact on his life. He’s made multiple skate videos and has taught many of his friends/younger siblings how to skate! He is a patient teacher with a passion to help develop someones skills and overall experience on a board. Spencer is friendly and very excited to help teach and watch you grow as a skateboarder! Is willing to travel and visit many skateparks around Salt Lake county. The most important things in Spencer’s lessons is that you have a safe and enjoyable experience, along with improving your abilities every time you step on the Board!

I have given lessons to family and friends in the past year. I have taught them how to be balanced while skating along with turning while pushing and cruising. I have been able to teach the Ollie Manuals Pop Shove-Its Kickflips 180 50/50 and 5-0. I would love to teach my skills to others.

Kevin is 23 years old, he have a progressive muscle disease that only effects his arms and hands, but doesn’t effect his legs at all allowing him to skateboard without issue. It sadly doesn’t allow him to work a traditional job. So he started skating again recently and skates 8-12 hours nearly every single day. Kevin would always available for lessons and is always improving as a result of how much he skates and his passion for improving his craft. He puts safety above all else to begin with, he wears multiple pads and braces for every session he skates. Kevin would be a good instructor because of how much he skates, along with having a very positive and encouraging attitude. He can teach the very basics, street skating, or vert skating, and most importantly he can teach falling correctly to minimize chances of injury. He is a very upbeat and friendly person, who can get along with pretty much everyone, as a result he is extremely easy to work with. He is excellent with young children especially due to his patience, but can still work and deal with people of all ages too. Kevin himself is constantly skating and trying to learn new things and grow as a skater, just as he would help his students do the same. He is very good at breaking things down and explaining things in a simplistic and easy to understand matter. I also feel one of Kevin’s biggest strengths is that he can teach them to recognize their own flaws, so basically why they didn’t land the trick this particular time. So when they are off practicing alone, they can know if this happened that means they did this wrong. It can help them immensely grow as skaters on their own time too, because they can self critique to get tricks down. Kevin has a real passion for skateboarding and dedicates all of his time nearly daily to it and has loved it since he was a kid. Kevin understand the progression and dedication it takes to continually improve and he would love to help others improve and reach their goals and aspirations. Kevin has taught some friends simple things such as dropping in, rock to fakie, kickflips, and then even just basic stuff like kick turns. Kevin is a great person to teach a skater whether the skater has just bought his first board and needs to learn the absolute basics such as; how to balance on it and which stance is natural for him, or for the skater that can ollie and wants to just learn some cool tricks or how to ollie that 4 set of stairs to show off to his friends.

Kevin is also very wiling to travel and the price will vary based on distance traveled, but he is willing to drive 30+ miles away to give a lesson, and continue to spread and teach the joy and wondrous world of skateboarding.
The Clips and pictures are just meant to show he has a basic and good grasp of skateboarding ability in both transition and street skating, that is easily teachable, not to blow your mind or anything.
