Veneta is a city in Lane County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 2,755.
Veneta was established in 1912 by Edmund Eugene Hunter, who named the settlement after his five-year-old daughter. Veneta post office was established in 1914. Veneta Orilla Hunter Vincent, the city’s namesake, died in 2000 at age 91. She had attended the city’s 70th anniversary party in 1982.
Veneta has been the site of the annual Oregon Country Fair, originally called the Renaissance Faire, since 1969.
On August 27, 1972, the Grateful Dead played a concert—the first “Field Trip”—at the Oregon Country Fair site. The concert, a benefit for Springfield Creamery, has become legendary to Deadheads and is documented in the film Sunshine Daydream. The city’s name is used on Veneta, Oregon, a 2004 release by New Riders of the Purple Sage, which is a live recording of the group’s opening performance at the 1972 Field Trip.

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2023 report by American Sports Data found there are 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the following years the locations of skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The biggest change has been the generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Veneta skate park.
