Tanner is a small town in central southern Limestone County, Alabama, United States, and is included in the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. It lies along the Tennessee River, next to the city of Athens.
Tanner is home to Tanner High School (The Rattlers), a 2A school in the state’s classification system. The school’s basketball boys and girls teams both won state titles in 2011.
Tanner was settled along the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in the 19th century and was originally named McDonald’s Station, then Rowland. A Rowland post office was established in 1878. In 1913, the Tanner post office was established, named after Samuel Tanner who was the first mayor of nearby Athens.
On April 3, 1974, the area was struck by the Super Outbreak; two violent tornadoes that were both one-third of a mile wide large cones hit the community within 30 minutes. The two tornadoes were classified as both F5 events in the city itself on the Fujita scale, respectively. After the first…

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data found there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a board in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the following years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The biggest change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

Find out all of the basics of skateboarding fast in a one-week camp. We will teach you the principles of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. No matter, of where you are at.. you can benefit from individualized instruction to meet your current skill level.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Tanner skate park.
