Suches is an unincorporated area in Union County, Georgia, United States. With an altitude approaching 3,000 feet, Suches describes itself as “The Valley Above The Clouds”‘ and is one of the highest-elevation communities in the state. It is the birthplace of Arthur Woody, a forest ranger who was a key figure in the early history of Chattahoochee National Forest. Suches is about a mile from the Appalachian Trail (AT) as it goes through Woody Gap. Hikers are seen in town especially in the spring, picking up mail at the local post office and supplies at the general store.
The local school is Woody Gap School, the smallest public school in the state of Georgia. The historical marker in front of the school lists it as the homestead of Joseph E. Brown, governor of Georgia during the Civil War. The current businesses in Suches include Budget Propane, the general store, Mountain Property Limited (the local realtor) and the U.S. Post Office.

A 2023 report by American Sports Data uncovered that there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a board in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The largest change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation sport for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Suches skate park.
