Shedd is an unincorporated community in Linn County, Oregon, United States on Oregon Route 99E.
In 1858, a community and gristmill was established about a mile and a half east of the present town of Shedd and called Boston, probably because one of the founders came from Boston, Massachusetts. Boston was platted in 1861 with a New England-style town square. The town became a stagecoach stop, and Boston Mills post office was established in 1869. Efforts to get the Oregon and California Railroad, which was being built south from Albany, to come through Boston Mills were unsuccessful. When the railroad was instead built through the nearby town of Shedd’s Station in 1871, the post office was moved and the name changed to Shedds, after Captain Frank Shedd, on whose land the community was started. All of Boston’s buildings, except the mill itself, were also moved west to the railroad. In 1899 the railroad changed the name of the station to Shedd, but the name of the post office didn’t change…

A 2002 report by American Sports Data found that there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a board in the most recent year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

Do you want to learn skateboarding?

Learn all of the fundamentals of skateboarding fast in a one-week camp. We will teach you the basics of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Irrespective, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your skill level.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Shedd skate park.
