Royal Oak is a city in Oakland County of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a suburb of Detroit. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 57,236. It should not be confused with Royal Oak Charter Township, a separate community located nearby.
It is the 5th-largest city in Oakland County and the 18th-largest city in Michigan. The area is known for its shopping, dining, and many cultural activities.
Royal Oak was incorporated as a village in 1891, and as a city in 1921. The city’s name originates in 1819, from one of Territorial Governor Lewis Cass’ expeditions surveying land. A tree located near the present-day intersection of Crooks, Rochester, and Main reminded Cass of the Royal Oak tree within which King Charles II of England hid to escape the Roundheads following the Battle of Worcester.

A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a board in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation sport or art for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Royal Oak skate park.
