Parachilna was once a town in South Australia. The town was first surveyed in 1863 due to its closeness to a government water well. It is on the railway line and road between Port Augusta and Leigh Creek. Today, the Prairie Hotel, railway station, airstrip and a few buildings remain. The road east into the Flinders Ranges leads through Parachilna Gorge, recognised for its scenic beauty, to Blinman.
The town’s name is from the Aboriginal patajilnda, meaning “place of peppermint gum trees”. The spelling difference is due to an early translation misreading. The railway station was completed in 1881 as part of the line to Leigh Creek through Beltana. The area was one of the set locations for the Australian feature film, Rabbit Proof Fence.
The Prairie Hotel is the only substantial building, dating from the days when the rail was supreme. Away from the highway, the hotel fronts the railway line and the now derelict station building. The old hotel has been in part retained, in part restored…

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Learn all of the fundamentals of skateboarding fast in a one-week camp. We will teach you the principles of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. In spite, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your skill level.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2023 survey and study by American Sports Data found there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a board in the last year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the physical locations of skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The biggest change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

    How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Parachilna skate park.
