Ortley is a town in Roberts County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 65 at the 2010 census.
The town was originally named Andersonville after a family of early settlers in the area of Swedish descent, but changed to Ortley in honor of the conductor of the railroad that eventually came to pass through the area.
Ortley is located at 45°19′58″N 97°11′51″W / 45.33278°N 97.1975°W / 45.33278; -97.1975 (45.332650, -97.197628).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km), all of it land.
Ortley has been assigned the ZIP code 57256 and the FIPS place code 47660.
As of the census of 2000, there were 54 people, 25 households, and 16 families residing in the town. The population density was 24.1 people per square mile (9.3/km²). There were 32 housing units at an average density of 14.3 per square mile (5.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 85.19% White and 14.81% Native American.

A 2023 report by American Sports Data discovered there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the actual locations of skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The most significant change has been the developed generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Ortley skate park.
