Oak Hill is a city in Fayette County, West Virginia, United States and is the primary city within the Oak Hill, WV Micropolitan Statistical Area. The micropolitan area is also included in the Beckley-Oak Hill, WV Combined Statistical Area. The population was 7,589 at the 2000 census. Country singer Hank Williams was discovered to be dead while the car in which he was a passenger was stopped in Oak Hill, and Oak Hill is generally accepted to be his place of death.
Oak Hill is located at 37°58′58″N 81°8′43″W / 37.98278°N 81.14528°W / 37.98278; -81.14528 (37.982775, -81.145334).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.8 square miles (12.5 km²), all of it land.
Oak Hill was settled in 1820. It was incorporated as a town in 1905.
