The northbridge has historically been one of the two chips in the core logic chipset on a PC motherboard, the other being the southbridge. Increasingly these functions have migrated to the CPU chip itself, beginning with memory and graphics controllers. For Intel Sandy Bridge and AMD Fusion processors introduced in 2011, all of the functions of the northbridge reside on the CPU. When a separate northbridge is employed in older Intel systems it is named memory controller hub (MCH) or integrated memory controller hub (IMCH) if equipped with an integrated VGA.
Separating the different functions into the CPU, northbridge, and southbridge chips is due to the difficulty of integrating all components onto a single chip. In some instances the northbridge and southbridge functions were combined onto one die when design complexity and fabrication processes permitted it, for example the Nvidia GeForce 320M in the 2009/2010 Macbook Air is a northbridge/southbridge/GPU combo chip.

Do you want to learn skateboarding?

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Be taught all of the fundamentals of skateboarding fast in a one-week camp. We will teach you the basics of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Regardless, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your skill level.

Skateboarding is a pastime activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data uncovered there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the ensuing years the locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Northbridge skate park.
