New Augusta is a town in Perry County, Mississippi, United States. It is part of the Hattiesburg, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 715 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Perry County. New Augusta is located about two miles south of “Old” Augusta, which was the county seat until 1906.
New Augusta is located at 31°12′15″N 89°1′55″W / 31.20417°N 89.03194°W / 31.20417; -89.03194 (31.204062, -89.031957).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.3 square miles (14 km), of which, 5.2 square miles (13 km) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km) of it (2.64%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 715 people, 252 households, and 190 families residing in the town. The population density was 138.5 people per square mile (53.5/km²). A 2002 report by American Sports Data uncovered that there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the following years the physical locations of skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
