Lovelock (1994) is a science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card and Kathryn H. Kidd. It is the first novel in The Mayflower Trilogy. The novel’s eponymous narrator takes his name from James Lovelock, the scientist-inventor who formulated the Gaia Hypothesis. The Gaia Hypothesis figures heavily in the book.
Lovelock is set in a near-future in which humanity is preparing to send out its first interstellar colonization ship, called the Ark. Lovelock, a genetically- and cybernetically-enhanced Capuchin monkey relates the story in the first person. Lovelock serves as the “Witness” for Carol Jeanne Cocciolone, meaning that his job is to record every waking moment of the life of a prominent member of society. As the chief Gaiaologist of the Ark, Carol Jeanne is responsible for managing the extensive terraforming their new planet will require, integrating the terrestrial species needed for the colonists’ survival with the planet’s existing ecology. Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Understand all of the fundamentals of skateboarding fast in a one-week camp. We will show you the basics of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Regardless, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your skill level.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the developed generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Lovelock skate park.
