Ilex, pronounced /ˈaɪlɛks/) is a genus of 400 to 600 species of flowering plants in the family Aquifoliaceae, and the only living genus in that family. The species are evergreen and deciduous trees, shrubs, and climbers from tropics to temperate zones world wide.
Ilex is a genus belonging to the family of the Aquifoliaceae, native of Afro-Eurasia, Australia and the Americas, established by Carl Linnaeus. It has over 300 species in the subtropical regions of both hemispheres. The genus includes species of trees, shrubs, and climbers, with evergreen or deciduous foliage and inconspicuous flowers. The genus was more extended in the tertiary and many species have adapted to laurel forest habitat. Ilex is adapted from sea level to more than 2000 meters with high mountain species. Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data uncovered there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the following years the physical locations of skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The largest change has been the developed generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation sport or art for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
