Grindstone (foaled 1993) is a thoroughbred racehorse who won the Kentucky Derby in 1996. He became jockey Jerry Bailey’s 2nd Kentucky Derby winner and the second in a row for trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
Bred and owned by William T. Young’s Overbrook Farm, Grindstone was the son of Unbridled out of the mare Buzz My Bell. Prior to the Derby, Grindstone had won the Louisiana Derby and was second in the Arkansas Derby.
Grindstone was retired just 5 days after his Kentucky Derby victory when knee chips were discovered in his leg. He is the first horse since Bubbling Over in 1926 to be retired immediately following a win in the Kentucky Derby. He stands today at Oakhurst Farm in Oregon (making him the first Kentucky Derby winner to ever stand in the Northwest). His progeny include two millionaires, GR I winner Birdstone and Ekolu Place. He is also, via Birdstone, the grandsire of Mine That Bird and Summer Bird, who both won Triple Crown races in 2009.

Learn Skateboarding in a 7 Day School

Skateboarding is a pastime activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2023 report by American Sports Data uncovered there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
