Greenock ( listen (help·info); Scottish Gaelic: Grianaig, pronounced [kɾʲiənɛkʲ]) is a town and administrative centre in the Inverclyde council area in United Kingdom, and a former burgh within the historic county of Renfrewshire, located in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It forms part of a contiguous urban area with Gourock to the west and Port Glasgow to the east.
Greenock’s population was recorded as being 45,467 in the 2001 census, a decrease from about 78,000 in 1966. It lies on the south bank of the Clyde at the “Tail of the Bank” where the River Clyde expands into the Firth of Clyde.
The origin of the town’s name is uncertain. It is generally accepted, however, that the town is named after the Gaelic “Grianaig” meaning a sunny place. The suggestion that the town’s name comes from the words Green Oak is folk etymology, but the image has been taken as a logo for the town’s main shopping centre, The Oak Mall and was once emblazoned on the local Co-operative Society emblem….

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2023 survey and study by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a board in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the coming years the locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation activity for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

We will teach you the basics of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop.   • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Greenock skate park.
