Gilly is a municipality in the district of Nyon in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
Gilly is first mentioned in 1179 as de iusliaco. In 1278 it was mentioned as Gillie.
Gilly has an area, as of 2009, of 7.8 square kilometers (3.0 sq mi). Of this area, 4.27 km (1.65 sq mi) or 55.0% is used for agricultural purposes, while 2.69 km (1.04 sq mi) or 34.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.75 km (0.29 sq mi) or 9.7% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km (2.5 acres) or 0.1% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01 km (2.5 acres) or 0.1% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.1% and transportation infrastructure made up 5.4%. Out of the forested land, 33.4% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.3% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 26.2% is used for growing crops and 5.7% is pastures, while 23.2% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.

A 2023 report by American Sports Data discovered that there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a board in the last year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The biggest change has been the developed generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
