FRED is a comic barbershop quartet formed in 1990 by members of the Marietta Big Chicken Chorus.
Despite their focus on comedy, FRED produces a very refined sound. Their performance in 1999 at the SPEBSQSA International Championship made them gold medalists, making them the first comedy quartet to ever win first place at the International level. In 2010, Storm Front became the first comedy quartet to win since then.
FRED’s take on the “comedy quartet” was original, in that they have not relied on spoken dialog in between songs to set up the humor in the next song, as most comedy quartets do. Instead, their humor is built in to their lyrics, musical arrangements, and stage presentation. Parodies are a staple of their performances, and their parodies (well-known songs set to different words) often have Barbershop “in-jokes” where they poke fun at other quartets and singers (by name!), themselves, and even the contest judges.

Do you want to learn how to skateboard?

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Understand all of the basic principles of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will show you the principles of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. In spite, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your skill level.

Skateboarding is a pastime activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2023 survey and study by American Sports Data uncovered there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a board in the most recent year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Fred skate park.
