Drayton Plains is an unincorporated community in Oakland County, Michigan, United States. It was first settled in 1823. A dam and gristmill was built in 1837 and the Drayton Plains Hotel was built in 1839. It was platted in 1860, but never incorporated as a municipality and its identity has been largely subsumed within that of Waterford Charter Township. It is located on Dixie Highway (U.S. Highway 24) around the west end of Loon Lake at 42°41’03” N, 83°22’38” W.
Brookfield Academy, originally founded as the Laurel Montessori School in 1964 in Drayton Plains, was the first Montessori school in Michigan. An old fish hatchery is now the Drayton Plains Nature Center.
Drayton Plains was informally referred to as a village and maintained its own identity and post office until the early 1990s when the post office was closed and functions transferred to the Waterford Post Office. The current ZIP code for the community is 48330.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2023 report by American Sports Data uncovered there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a board in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the ensuing years the physical locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The most significant change has been the generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation activity for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
