Dorton (or Dourton) is a village and civil parish in the Aylesbury Vale district of Buckinghamshire. It is in the western part of the county, about 5 miles (8 km) north of the Oxfordshire market town of Thame.
The village toponym is derived from the Old English for “farm at a narrow pass”. The Domesday Book of 1086 records it as Dortone, and in the 13th century it was Durtone.
Before the Norman conquest of England Alric, son of Goding, a thegn of Edward the Confessor, held the manor of Dorton. However, the Domesday Book records that by 1086 the Norman baron Walter Giffard held it.
Dorton House is a Grade I listed Jacobean mansion to the south of the village. It is now a preparatory school, Ashfold School.
The Church of England parish church of Saint John the Evangelist was originally a chapel of ease to nearby Chilton. St. John’s has been a parish in its own right since at least 1590.

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Discover all of the basics of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will teach you the principles of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Regardless, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your current skill level.

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2023 survey and study by American Sports Data uncovered there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a skateboard in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the ensuing years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The largest change has been the developed generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Dorton skate park.
