Deweyville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Newton County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,190 at the 2000 census.
Deweyville is located at 30°17′47″N 93°44′58″W / 30.29639°N 93.74944°W / 30.29639; -93.74944 (30.296478, -93.749441).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 11.3 square miles (29 km), of which, 11.2 square miles (29 km) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km) of it (0.71%) is water.
This settlement was established as a sawmill site by the Sabine Tram Company in 1898. It was named after George Dewey, an admiral in the United States Navy who was victorious in the Battle of Manila Bay that same year. Within two years a post office would be established, and for a short time this town would be the largest town in Newton County. Electricity would be established for the residents of Deweyville in the 1920’s.

A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data discovered there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the following years the physical locations of skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
