Cuttyhunk Island is the outermost of the Elizabeth Islands in Massachusetts. It was the first site of English settlement in New England. It is located between Buzzards Bay to the north and Vineyard Sound to the south. Penikese Island and Nashawena Island are located to the north and east, respectively.
The island has a land area of 580 acres (0.91 sq mi; 2.3 km), and a population of 52 persons as of the 2000 census. It is the fourth largest in area of the Elizabeth Islands and home to the village of Cuttyhunk. It lies entirely within the town of Gosnold.
The island was originally named Poocuohhunkkunnah (probably from the Wampanoag for “Point of departure” or “Land’s end”) by the native Wampanoag tribe. In 1602 English explorer Bartholomew Gosnold renamed the island. On March 6, 1602, Gosnold set out aboard the barque The Concord from Falmouth, England to plant a colony in the new world of America. Learn all of the fundamentals of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will show you the basics of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Irrespective, of where you are at.. you can benefit from personalized instruction to meet your skill level.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2002 report by American Sports Data uncovered that there are 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the ensuing years the physical locations of skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The largest change has been the developed generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

    How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Cuttyhunk skate park.
