Chilhowie is a town in Smyth County, Virginia, United States.Chilhowie, pronounced Chil·´how·ee, the Cherokee word meaning “valley of many deer,” was adopted as the town’s name when the town became incorporated in 1913. The population was 1,781 at the 2010 census. Chris Marion of the classic rock band, Little River Band, Eric McClure a Nascar Nationwide Series driver, Ben Huff, Colonel, USAF, and “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel the professional wrestler, are notable residents.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.6 square miles (6.7 km²), all of it land.
Chilhowie was often the starting point of Longhunter expeditions.
Chilhowie sustained severe damage from an EF-2 tornado in the April 25–28, 2011 tornado outbreak.

Do you want to learn how to skateboard?

Be taught all of the basic principles of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will show you the basics of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Regardless, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your current skill level.

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2002 report by American Sports Data uncovered that there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a board in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the coming years the physical locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The most significant change has been the generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Chilhowie skate park.
