Bucyrus ( /bjuːˈsaɪrəs/) is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Crawford County, located in northern Ohio approximately 28 miles (45 km) west of Mansfield. The population was 13,224 at the 2000 census. The city is the largest in Crawford County, and the center of the Bucyrus Micropolitan Statistical Area (as defined by the United States Census Bureau in 2003). According to James Croneis, former editor of the newspaper Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum, the name “Bucyrus” was derived from “Beautiful” and “Cyrus the Great”, King of Persia by Col. Lainey Griffin, who platted the community, making it the first community in the United States to use the name.
Bucyrus, known as the Bratwurst Capital of America, is home to the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival, which is held during the third weekend annually in August and includes musical performances and a beauty pageant. Skateboarding is a recreational activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a board in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the following years the locations of skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation activity for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
