Blackwater is the major town of a significant coal mining area in Central Queensland, Australia. At the 2006 census, Blackwater had a population of 5,031.
Six major open cut coal mines and one underground dot the landscape surrounding the town and provide its main employment opportunities. The town is also situated close to the Blackdown Tableland National Park which lies to the south. Emerald is 74km to the west.
Blackwater is supposedly named after the Blackwater Creek which apparently was first observed to flow with black water, this may have been caused by tree roots growing into the creek. Coal deposits were discovered there by Ludwig Leichhardt in 1845.

Those numbers have doubled since then. In the following years the physical locations of skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The most significant change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation activity for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
