Saint-Louis, or Ndar as it is called in Wolof, is the capital of Senegal’s Saint-Louis Region. Located in the northwest of Senegal, near the mouth of the Senegal River, and 320 km north of Senegal’s capital city Dakar, it has a population officially estimated at 176,000 in 2005. Saint-Louis was the capital of the French colony of Senegal from 1673 until 1902. From 1902 until its independence from France the capital was Dakar. From 1920 to 1957 it also served as the capital of the neighboring colony of Mauritania.
The heart of the old colonial city is located on a narrow island (just over 2 km long and about 400 m wide) in the Senegal River, 25 km from its mouth. At this point the river is separated from the Atlantic Ocean to the west by a narrow sand spit, the Langue de Barbarie (300 m wide), which has also been urbanized (the seaside neighborhoods of Ndar Tout and Guet Ndar). Yet a third part of the city, Sor, lies on the eastern mainland and is nearly surrounded by tidal marshes….

OUR SKATE INSTRUCTORS

Jeff D. from St. Louis, Missouri!

Jeff is a skateboarder with 17 years of experience and has been sponsored by several brands for 9 of those years. Originally from New Jersey, Jeff moved to Los Angeles about 5 years ago and has been featured in numerous videos all over the internet and in magazines such as Thrasher as well. He has won several contests throughout his career and has a real passion for the sport and passing on tricks that he has learned to others. Jeff has already had two years of experience teaching others what he can do on the board and loves to see the self-fulfillment in people’s faces once they finally nail a trick down.

Zayd A. from St. Louis, Missouri!

He is a morning person, who wakes up enjoying life to the fullest. He is very energetic and loves working with people. You can see how he feeds off other people to get his energy. His mother is a pediatrician so he naturally is already good with kids! He is 21 years old, the youngest in the family. Started skating at the beginning of 6th grade and just couldn’t stop. Goofy footed, street or tranny I’ll love it. Don’t mind focusing 110% on someone because I love watching someone’s improvement, honestly gives out a good feeling for oneself and just seeing the happiness on one’s face. This won’t be the first skateboarding lesson I’ve taught and hopefully not the last. Thank you.

Driveway Skateboarding Lessons in Saint Louis, Missouri

South Kings Highway Bridge Urban Skate Park was created by skateboarding enthusiasts who want to have a decent place to do practice their skills. Their passion has brought them towards reaching their goal of having a free skate park, thus, the construction of SKHBU Skate Park. Most states have their very own skate parks. Unfortunately, Saint Louis has none. To provide solution to this problem, about 14,000 teens and adults have worked hand-in-hand to support the project. Because of their passion, and with some donations and free help from enthusiasts, the locals of Saint Louis have made their very own 20,000 sq. feet skate park!

Years after the construction, the government has initiated some additional projects that could lead to the destruction of their much-loved skate park. Since the skateboarders can’t do anything about it, they have once again raised some funds to come up with a new skate park haven. As per March 2014, the construction of the new skate park has started. It was moved in Peter Mathews Memorial Skate Garden. They are asking for additional funds so you can donate some cash if you want to make the project plausible.

Improve Your Skateboarding in a Two Week-Long Lesson

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a board in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the actual locations of skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The biggest change has been the developed generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
