Vorhees Skatepark, Terre Haute Indiana
Voorhees Skatepark is situated at the North end of Voorhees Park in Terre Haute. When finished the skatepark is supposed to be one of the largest in the Midwest. But for the time being only the first phase of three is complete. It comprising of the main park area and a sloped run to a horse shoe shaped 3 Ft. quarter. On the run there are 2 grind/manual boxes with a metal grind rail. The bowl area has 2 Horse shoes connected with a spine. At the end of the spine you will find a pump hump. There are 2 “high walls” with 1 being a gradual slope and 1 with a taste of strait vert.
All the coping (for grinding) in The skate park is steel and the very smooth concrete is nice and smooth. There are many different lines to find for both regular and goffy footed skaters. You just got to put the time in to find them.
There has been some debate as to who built and built The skate park because both California Skateparks and Wally Hollyday claim to have built it. But neither say if they built it on their web pages. Either way both companies are considered to be in the elite cl of park builders. If or when the last 2 phases get done this should be one hell of a knarly park to say the least. But for right now it is a small small and can get cramped when “glad Hour” hits.
