Neinhuis Skatepark
One of the finest skate park facilities in this part of the nation opened in Nienhuis Park late in the summer of 2007. Phase I includes a Street Area of about 12,600 square feet — all concrete. It also includes a bowl area six feet deep, which is roughly 3,000 square feet.
The Street Area “Street Course Area” includes different types of bank ramps (bank ramp straight, bank ramps with radius and bank ramps with a kicker). There are wedge ramps, a quarter pipe, roll-over, various grind ledges, grind rails and stairs.
The Master Plan for the skate park includes a second phase which will be built in the future. That will add lights (for night skating) to The skate park, as well as additional very smooth concrete skating features to the north of the current facility. The Nienhuis Aquatic Facility is just south of the Skate Park, and professional provides a restroom with access for those using the skate park. There are picnic shelters on both the north and south sides of the facility.
The skate park is open from sundown to sunrise.
The construction contractors were: General Contractor, Jones Plan Construction of Tulsa; Subcontractor for Skate Park items, Ideal Skateparks of Austin; Engineering Design Team, Tulsa Engineering and Planning of Tulsa; Engineering sub consultant American Ramp Company of Joplin.
