My story continues at Mabel Davis District Park trail. Try this 1.3-mile loop trail near Austin, Texas. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 27 min to complete. This trail is great for road biking, trail running, and walking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.

This is a tree ID tour of Mabel Davis District Park filmed December 3, 2021. Mabel Davis District Park is in SW Austin near I-35 and SH 71. Being on the I-35 corridor, this park has the heightened diversity of the Edwards Plateau/Blackland Prairie transition zone and houses several different species of trees native to Texas and several invasive species as well.
If you would like to take follow along the path in person, you should head from the parking lot past the skate park and playground to the main walking trail and follow it around in a counter-clockwise fashion. The follow species will be covered in this video:
