The Independence Park Skatepark
known as Meredith Perkins Skate Park, a 10,000 sq ft concrete facility designed by PurkissRose and established in 2002, is situated in Independence Park. The park features a 5.5-foot deep full capsule resembling Whittier's design but wider and lacking extensions. It encompasses various elements like a bank/wedge ramp, bowl/pool, extension, flat rail, funbox, half pipe, Hubba, kicker/launch, grind box/ledge, mini ramp, pyramid, quarter pipe, and stair set.
Entrance to the skate park is free, and it is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. Alongside skateboarding amenities, Independence Park offers tennis courts, baseball fields, children's play areas, restrooms, and free parking. To ensure safety, park staff mandates the use of pads and helmets while skating. The park provides a diverse and expansive space for skateboarders, seamlessly integrated into a larger recreational area for the community.
