Albany Skatepark
Albany, is a farming community in central Oregon. Their just made park is very well built. It is another Great American Skatepark design that includes a 7′ bowl and spine that has a channel and a flyout to a rounded bank. rolling into the bowl and doing airs out was very enjoyable. On the other end of the spine and bowl is a 7′ square hip in the street course. Blending large transition spots into street obstacles like pyramids and volcanoes is a great way to add speed and a continuous flow to a park, but at this park, they put too much together in a small area. The result is a great hip for airs, but your run must then end as you head straight for a wall. Some skaters were screaming at the BMXers to leave and then the police came. The cops started writing tickets to the BMX bike riders because they aren’t allowed to peg stomp the coping (for grinding) there. awesome! Overall, The skate park is very smooth, but the lack of a good layout is a drawback.
