Students will receive from me not only a fiercely passionate skateboarder who has dedicated thirty years to the craft, but a wholly unique perspective to skateboarding cultivated by a life both on and off the skateboard. I firmly believe that learning how to ride a skateboard teaches an individual valuable other life lessons that can be carried over into other avenues of one’s life, as my own life is a testament to that.

Skateboarding is ultimately about going out of one’s own comfort zone to accomplish something not previously achieved, and whenever a skateboarder does this, he or she creates a new reality altogether for themselves while having fun along the way…. For me, I have gone outside of my comfort zone in skateboarding into my personal life to make connections with some of the greatest skateboarders in all of skateboarding: hall of famers, X-Games gold medalists, etc… all as an outsider originally from Chicago, IL who through sheer perseverance and interpersonal skills made his way to such notable figures in skateboarding as Jake Brown (X-Games gold medalist and skateboarding hall of famer), Elliott Sloan (X-Games Gold medalist), Don Brown (former freestyle professional and president of Soletech [eS, Emerica, Etnies]), and most notably– Daewon Song: 2006 Thrasher SOTY and arguably the greatest skateboarder ever to ride a skateboard.

While learning a trick is important, making sure it looks and feels properly is as important to me while also maintaining safety, and the reason why my tricks look and feel a certain way and why I insist when someone lands a trick it should look and feel a certain way is because style in skateboarding is ultimately about biography, and because I have a unique biography, my style will inevitably be unique, and with my coaching, I will ensure that other people that learn to skateboard from me will infuse their skateboarding with their own biography. Please consider me for this position. I will not disappoint you.

As a skater myself I feel as though it’s great freedom to have, being able to grab your board and go out for a cruise. A true escape. Getting to grips with balance, consistency and patience. Skating helped me get away from a lot of the destruction that was happening around me.

I started at BYC and I learned how to drop in, drop to fakey and take my time. I finally found a comfortability and confidence, something I strive to give any of my students.

Teaching my students to feel it and getting to grips with being outside of their comfort zone starting from the ground up. Letting people have the freedom to explore without dictating everything, showing them how to have fun, be confident and let go.

“When I think about teaching skateboarding, I think of passing my knowledge of self-growth and mutual respect in order to contribute to a positive lifestyle for new skateboarders and for society as a whole. I evolved in skateboarding while experiencing very different backgrounds scenes in places like Sao Paulo Brazil, California, New York City and Toronto. That allowed me to have contact with various styles and understand what difficulties every skateboarder individually faces while learning.  I believe skateboarding is a reflection of our inner self and it teaches us to face challenges in our daily lives, therefore an opportunity to improve ourselves through self-confidence and humbleness.
So, my students will not only get clear and detailed instructions from someone who is passionate and has +10 years of experience with all sort of styles around the world, but they’ll also learn how skateboarding can help them evolve spiritually and achieve greater things in life no matter the challenge, as well as learning how to be respectful in all skateparks environment everywhere they go.
As you evolve in skateboarding it becomes clearer that time and experience are key variables to achieve the best results, therefore I am committed to guide students through every step carefully and surely, celebrating each small victory and providing constructive feedbacks after every class.”

Hello!! my name is Braydon wood I’ve been skateboarding competitively for the past 10 years + , During those years I’ve developed a lot of tips and tricks that I love to apply throughout my lessons, I am extremely easygoing and understanding of all skill levels as skateboarding is no walk in the park and can be very difficult. Personally, I like to sit down with my students and ask them what their goals are and what kind of tricks they are interested in learning. My number one goal is to make sure my students are having fun and are comfortable with the board, basics are a must before we try anything advanced. Once my student’s skill level increases we will begin to increase the difficulty of the lesson. Hope to be skating with you soon!!
