I have been a street skateboarder for over 12 years from Long Island NY. I rarely have taken over a week off of skating since I started, it is more of an addiction than a hobby at this point. Just because I prefer street doesn’t mean I don’t skate parks. It seems that with the growth of skateboarding the parks become the only place you can stay out of trouble while riding this piece of wood. They are also great places to build confidence and familiarity with the obstacles and board feel. Skating the streets is still way more fun than a park and would love to teach not only the fundamentals of skateboarding, but the history and culture that has a world wide grasp on our youth. I think there is a lot of great life lessons to be learned on a board that you can’t get from a basketball or football, but without the proper avenue to get the word out about how awesome and rewarding this sport is, we will always be the rebellious castaway’s that are disobeying parental guidance towards that scholarship. Either way this is a hobby that brought me up through the cracks and I would love to watch someone fall in love with it the way I did. The culture starts with us and needs us to promote it, I just want to do my part. Give me a buzz I will be sure to help you in any way I can.
