Heya! My name is Nate Zak and I’m stoked to be your new instructor! I’m a professionally self-employed musician/producer, voice actor, influencer. I am an extremely positive and optimistic, outgoing and social person, which is why I’ve been an instructor before in the past and am so excited at the prospect of teaching kids (or anyone!) how to skate!
I’ve been skateboarding in parks since 1998, when I was five years old, when I used to ride the 13+ft ramps at the San Diego YMCA skate park. Having lived in SLO county for 20+ years, I’ve seen nearly every park be built or re-built, so I know these local slopes! Any thing you could mention wanting to do an learn, I could picture the perfect spot to learn it – immediately! I’m also more than willing to go to any park in the county, or even travel out of the county to neighboring ones, just as long as you cover some travel costs!
Teaching and explaining technique is one of my favorite things to do! Especially when it comes to working with kids and action sports. I’ve also been surfing since I was five, and used to be an instructor with the Junior Life guards for 6 years. There I taught kids how to swim and surf, so I know already how each individual takes a customized approach to learning in order to fully realize their personal-potential!
As a casual-but-longtime-skater, I would describe my skill level as ‘beginner advanced’. While there’s many tricks that are out of my skill league, there’s so much I can do when it comes to entry level advanced skills on nearly every type of feature. This means that not only could I teach your kid or you how skate from the ground up, but I could help you expand your skating into intermediate and beyond! By that time as a skater, you’d be able know how to look up and learn more advanced tricks on your own!
Being self-employed, my schedule is all mine and almost always completely flexible. I’m more than happy to build a weekly schedule based around what works best for yours! Reach out to me with any questions you might have and let’s get a lesson scheduled! I can’t wait to hear from you!

Cheers and have a great day!
