Hi I’m Marcus Coleman and I’m from the Twin cities area. I have been skating for about 14 years and I’m pretty involved in my skateboarding community. I was a sponsored skateboarder in Highschool from a skate shop called Killroy’s in Hastings Minnesota. I got a bunch of my friends sponsored and we performed at the river town days festival in Hastings one year. Also my team and I would enter our local skate competitions under Killroy’s. Sadly they are no longer with us. The owner had to close the shop.

Shortly after that I found myself seeking another sponsor. I eventually ended up finding employment in another skate shop in Hudson Minnesota called summit skate shop. we sold everything from skateboards to skis. we also had a skatepark in the back warehouse where we charged $10 a head to get in. Later on the owner started a program to teach kids how to skate in a safe and comfortable environment which I became A part of. I was teaching on average about one kid per shift and I was working 3-4 days a week. Sadly too just like Killroy’s, Summit had been taken out by the still standing Familia Headquarters. one of my favorite parks/shop LoL. The things that I have learned over the years in the skating industry have helped me over come the biggest obstacles in learning how to skate. Because still till this day I’m still learning new things because of the community that I have been a part of and I would like to share what I’ve learned.
