Hi, my name is Ian. I’m 25 years old. I’m a college graduate from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. I’m looking to pursue my passion in skateboarding by teaching others how to skate. I would be a great instructor because I find gratification in teaching others what I love to do. Not only am I certified by GoSkate to become an instructor, but I also have over 12 years of experience in skateboarding.
I’ve been a local skater at Trails and Parker skatepark for the last 10 years. I understand all the obstacles and etiquette needed to keep your student safe. I’ve successfully taught all age groups from beginners to advanced. I’m a hype man! I like to get others pumped and excited to skate. I enjoy building other people’s confidence in skateboarding. I’m reliable and take my work professionally. I have a friendly personality and have successfully taught well with all age groups. I’m very descriptive and detailed about my instructions. I understand the fundamentals step by step procedures and the orders that need to be taught.
What you should expect to learn:
Lessons 1-4
1. The “Foundation.” Determine if you are goofy or regular stance. Learning how to push, turn, balance, foot placement, stop, fall, build confidence, common mistakes and how to avoid them, make corrections and understanding them, and everything else you need to safely ride a board on flat terrain.
2. Safety is my number one priority. I’ll start by ensuring all safety equipment are put on correctly. I will inspect your skateboard setup to make sure everything is safe to ride. I’ll go over the name of each component and the purpose of each one.
3. Once you have the basics of skateboarding down, I will teach you some beginner tricks. This includes how to ollie, tic tac, and ride on ramps. It is important that you first learn how to do the basics.
4. Students who progress quickly or who have demonstrated confidence and ability may progress to ramp tricks, grinds, and flip tricks. Some of the tricks I’m able to teach include: 50/50 grinds, pop shuv it, noseslides, tailslides, kickflips, heelflips, 180’s, 360’s, dropping in, and more.
Lessons 5-8
5. GoSkate recommends a minimum of 6-8 lessons for students who have high-interest levels in skateboarding. During these lessons, I focus on building plans that will help students reach a level by starting with foundational tricks and progressing into more difficult tricks.
My Promise: I’ll make it fun and most importantly safe for your student to learn how to skateboard. I guarantee they’ll become a better skater after just one lesson. I’m passionate about teaching others to skate and confident I’ll give you the experience you are looking for. Please consider me to become your next instructor as I know you won’t be disappointed. Let’s learn to skate!
