West Charleston is an unincorporated community in western Bethel Township, Miami County, Ohio, United States. It was laid out in 1807 by Charles Friend and was at that time known as Friendtown. Notable early residents were John Newcomb, the first merchant, and Jack Schlosser, the first tavernkeeper. Also from West Charleston was the Hoagland family, developers of Royal Baking Powder. The business was later moved to the nearby city of Troy, Ohio, and later to New York City.
West Charleston lies astride State Route 202, earlier known as the North Miami Pike. The road was formed along the route cut through the area by George Rogers Clark in 1782 during his campaigns against the natives at Lower Piqua and Upper Piqua. It is also the route taken southward to Cincinnati by General “Mad Anthony” Wayne after the Battle of Fallen Timbers and the completion of the Treaty of Greenville.
The community is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data uncovered that there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the previous year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the ensuing years the skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The biggest change has been the developed generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Understand all of the basics of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will show you the principles of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. In spite, of where you are at.. you can benefit from personalized instruction to meet your skill level.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the West Charleston skate park.
