Waterbury (nicknamed the “Brass City”) is a city in New Haven County, Connecticut, on the Naugatuck River, 33 miles (53 km) southwest of Hartford and 77 miles (124 km) northeast of New York City. As of 2010 Census Bureau estimates, the city had a total population of 110,366 and is the ninth largest city in New England, the fifth-largest city in Connecticut and the second largest city in New Haven County.
Throughout the first half of the 20th century Waterbury had large industrial interests and was the leading center in the United States for the manufacture of brassware (including castings and finishings), as reflected in the nickname the “Brass City” and the city’s motto Quid Aere Perennius? (“What Is More Lasting Than Brass?”), which echoes the Latin of Horace’s Ode 3.30. It was noted for the manufacture of watches and clocks.

Do you want to learn how to skateboard?

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Discover all of the basics of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will teach you the principles of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Irrespective, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your skill level.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a board in the last year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the developed generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Waterbury skate park.

    Rich has been skateboarding and longboarding for 10 years and has also been a downhill skateboarding/slide longboarding teacher for a little over a year. His love of the sport comes from watching surfing videos when he was a kid and translating the disappointment of not living on the coast of Southern California into shredding the hills of his hometown and beyond. Skateboarding is an amazing stress reliever and can amaze anybody with what they can do after they put in a little practice. Rich’s goal is to make skateboarding more accessible to the general public through informative lessons given at a comfortable pace determined by the student.
