Swisher is a city in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. It part of the Iowa City, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 813 at the 2000 census.
Swisher is located at 41°50′42″N 91°41′42″W / 41.845°N 91.695°W / 41.845; -91.695 (41.844983, -91.694909).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 813 people, 306 households, and 231 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,769.6 people per square mile (682.4/km²). There were 317 housing units at an average density of 690.0 per square mile (266.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.14% White, 0.12% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.12% from other races, and 0.25% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.25% of the population.

Those numbers have doubled since then. In the following years the locations of skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The largest change has been the developed generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Swisher skate park.
