Struthers is a city in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 12,036 at the 2000 census. Struthers is served by a branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. It is part of the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman, OH-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
John Struthers, from Washington County, Pennsylvania, purchased 400 acres (1.6 km) of Poland Township land in 1798. This land would later be known as the present day city of Struthers. The community’s early history centers on Yellow Creek which was the site for the first iron blast furnace built west of Pittsburgh. The furnace was built in 1803 by Daniel Eaton and is mentioned in the first line of the 1995 Bruce Springsteen song “Youngstown”.
Several furnaces were built along the creek during the first decade of the 1800s and all ceased to exist after The War of 1812 began. The land on the Yellow Creek would lay dormant for more than 50 years until 1865 when Thomas Struthers, son of John Struthers, bought back…

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data found there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a board in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

We will show you the basics of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop.   • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Struthers skate park.
