Spur is a city in Dickens County, Texas, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,088.
On October 9, 2009, Spur celebrated its centennial with the dedication of a Giant Spur sculpture. The Giant Spur was built by local welder John Grusendorf. The event, sponsored by the Dickens County Historical Commission, was held at Dyess Park off U.S. Highway 70.
Spur is located at 33°28′40″N 100°51′25″W / 33.47778°N 100.85694°W / 33.47778; -100.85694 (33.477650, -100.857018).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.6 square miles (4.1 km), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,088 people, 472 households, and 288 families residing in the city. The population density was 673.4 people per square mile (259.3/km²). There were 641 housing units at an average density of 396.7 per square mile (152.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 72.52% White, 3.40% African American, 0.83% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.37%…

A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data discovered there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the ensuing years the locations of skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation sport for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
