OUR MO SKATE INSTRUCTOR

Travis H. from Springfield, Missouri!

Travis started skating at 7 years old and has been hooked ever since. When he started skating there weren’t many skateparks or many places that allowed skateboarders. This left him to skate driveways and homemade obstacles with his friends. In 2004, his hometown of Fort Wayne, IN opened its very first state-of-the-art skatepark and this is where he could be found 6 out of 7 days a week. Now, after 23 years of skateboarding, not much has changed. Travis thrives when he’s able to help others learn how to skate, whether it be teaching his best friends a trick he himself is trying to master, or giving pointers to newbies at Forest Park in Noblesville. Whatever the case, Travis loves helping others and this is why he shares his passion with anyone who shows interest.

Discover Skateboarding in a Two Week-Long Course

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data found that there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a board in the previous year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the following years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The biggest change has been the developed generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport or art for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
