Skateboarding is a pastime activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data discovered there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the ensuing years the skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.
