Scott originated from Scotti (Old English Scot, modern Scottish Gaelic Sgaothaich).
Scott came from the name of a Gaelic speaking Celtic tribe called the Scoti although there is no clear evidence to the etymology of the word, even if it has Gaelic roots or whether it was first applied to them by outsiders. Nevertheless, the Scoti were originally from County Antrim, Ireland and in the late 4th Century the tribe spread into and conquered the area around Argyle, Bute and Lochaber, Scotland and the name came with them. They called their new kingdom Dalriada. It reached its height under Áedán mac Gabráin (r. 574-608), but its expansion was checked at the Battle of Degsastan in 603 by Æthelfrith of Northumbria. In the following decades Dalriada suffered some serious defeats and by 640 was a client state of Northumbria and ultimately absorbed into the Kingdom of Alba by the Caledonian Picts in the mid 9th century. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the actual locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The biggest change has been the generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
