Santa Maria is a city in Santa Barbara County, on the Central Coast of California. The 2010 census population was 100,062, putting it ahead of Santa Barbara (the county seat) for the first time and making it the largest city in the county. The estimated population of the area is 161,227, which includes the Santa Maria Valley, the city of Guadalupe and the unincorporated township of Orcutt. The Santa Maria Valley, stretching from the Santa Lucia Mountains toward the Pacific Ocean, was the homeland of the Chumash people for thousands of years. These Native Americans made their homes on the slopes of the surrounding hills among the Oaks, the banks of the Santa Maria river among the Sycamores, and along the beach areas. Tucker has been skateboarding for almost 20 years. He has been to every skatepark in the Bay Area, has learned the terrain, and quickly made friends at each park. Tucker has a passion not only for his own growth as a skateboarder but for fellow skaters as well. He will often encourage and offer tips to beginners at the skatepark, helping them learn new tricks as well as making them feel welcome. He also knows that at the end of the day skating is all about having fun and shouldn’t feel stressful or forced. Naturally, being a skateboard instructor is a perfect job for Tucker as he has been doing it for the majority of his life.

I am the oldest of 4 in my family and love to inspire and work with younger kids to give them the same feeling and love that I have for skateboarding. I have been skating for 11 years and am close to a lot of people within the industry. I want to work with the younger generation to teach them new tricks and how to feel comfortable on a skateboard and feel the same love and passion for the sport that I do. I am open to teaching any age group and I do not discriminate. I can teach anything from learning how to ride and stand on a board to skating bowls, pools, tech tricks, and flat-ground flip tricks, and other maneuvers. Skateboarding is a leisure activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2002 report by American Sports Data uncovered there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a skateboard in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the locations of skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the developed generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Be taught all of the basic principles of skateboarding fast in a one-week camp. We will show you the basics of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. No matter, of where you are at.. you can benefit from individualized instruction to meet your skill level.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Santa Maria skate park.
