The olive branch in Western culture, derived from the customs of Ancient Greece, symbolizes peace or victory and was worn by brides.
In Greek mythology, Athene competed with Poseidon for possession of Athens. Poseidon claimed possession by thrusting his trident into the Acropolis, where a well of sea-water gushed out. Athene took possession by planting the first olive tree beside the well. The court of gods and goddesses ruled that Athene had the better right to the land because she had given it the better gift. Olive wreaths were worn by brides and awarded to olympic victors.
The use of the olive as a symbol of peace dates at least to the fifth century BCE. It was mentioned by the Greek playwright Aristophanes in Peace (Eirene), where he refers to “greatest of all goddesses, Eirene, goddess of peace, her to whom the olive is so dear”. Irrespective, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your skill level.

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data discovered there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a board in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are becoming a reality.

The biggest change has been the generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation activity for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Olive Branch skate park.
